Miriam Bouazza takes over the Solution Line Legal Financial Services at KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH

Miriam Bouazza takes over the Legal Financial Services Solution Line at KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH. With Legal Financial Services, Miriam Bouazza has been heading one of four Solution Lines of KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (KPMG Law) since January 1.

Bouazza joined KPMG Law in 2009 from Hogan Lovells. Since 2016, she has been a partner responsible for providing legal financing and transaction advisory services to banks and borrowers with a focus on acquisition financing and restructuring financing. In her new role, she will focus KPMG Law’s multidisciplinary advisory offering even more strongly on the specific needs of banks, insurers, asset managers and real estate clients.

Sven-Olaf Leitz, member of the Executive Board of KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft (KPMG) and responsible for the Financial Services business line, endorses this integrated course: “I am very much looking forward to working closely with Miriam Bouazza. With her many years of experience as a lawyer in Financial Services, I am convinced that we will be able to further expand the Legal Financial Services solution line within KPMG Law thanks to her outstanding expertise.”

Legal Financial Services is one of the investment cases for KPMG Law. Bouazza’s goal is to significantly expand the legal advice he provides to banks, insurance companies, asset managers and real estate companies. To this end, the number of partners at Legal Financial Services is to be increased significantly over the next few years. The Legal Financial Services department currently employs around 50 specialized lawyers, each with a different area of focus, eight of whom are partners.

“The added value of our holistic consulting approach is particularly noticeable for clients in multi-layered projects such as regulatory-driven implementation projects as well as complex transformation projects. Advice from a single source, in which topics such as project management, implementation of new processes, tax advice and economic valuation always play a role in addition to traditional legal advice, is becoming increasingly important for our clients,” emphasizes Bouazza.

For example, KPMG Law recently worked hand in hand with experts from the Tax, Consulting, IT and Accounting departments to provide legal advice on the establishment of Germany’s first “Brexit bank” and, in this context, transferred the business of the German branch of a UK-licensed bank to the newly established bank, among other things.

Mathias Oberndörfer, Managing Director of KPMG Law, adds: “The fact that we have been able to fill this position with Miriam Bouazza from our own ranks shows how far we have already come in recent years. Bouazza is the right person, both professionally and personally, to further exploit this potential.”
