Jan Erik Schapmann

Biography

Since his admission to the bar in March 2003, Jan Erik Schapmann worked for the international law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP at its Düsseldorf office in the area of corporate law/ M&A/ capital markets law until 2013. Since 2013, Jan Erik Schapmann has been working for KPMG Law in its Düsseldorf office in the Legal Deal Advisory solution line.

Jan Erik Schapmann studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm University in Bonn. Prior to his studies, Jan Erik Schapmann trained as a banker at Deutsche Bank AG, Wuppertal branch. He completed his legal clerkship in the district court of Mönchengladbach. Jan Erik Schapmann did his elective internship at the New York office of the international law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP. After passing the second state examination, Jan Erik Schapmann did an internship in the Investment Banking Department of Deutsche Bank AG, Financial Institutions Group, in Frankfurt am Main.

From November 2001 up to and including December 2002, Mr. Schapmann worked as a so-called International Associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP in their New York office.

Consulting focus

Mr. Schapmann advises in the areas of corporate law and M&A. His practice focuses on advising on national and international corporate transactions, joint ventures, corporate law, national and cross-border restructurings as well as the formation of European public limited companies. He also provides comprehensive advice on general corporate law issues.
