Transparency register and real estate – escalating reporting requirements for foreign companies

In order to take stronger action against money laundering in the real estate market, the legislator extended the reporting requirements to the transparency register for foreign companies with direct or indirect German real estate ownership on January 1, 2023. However, because the so-called Sanctions Enforcement Act II has become the cause of many unresolved disputes, the Federal Office of Administration has now published an updated FAQ.
