KPMG Law advises Element Materials Technology

KPMG Law advises Element Materials Technology on the acquisition of Germanischer Lloyd Prüflabor GmbH

KPMG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (KPMG Law) advised Element Materials Technology Herne GmbH on the acquisition of Germanischer Lloyd Prüflabor GmbH, based in Herne. The seller in this transaction was the Norwegian DNV GL Group, registered in Oslo.

With the acquisition of the four test laboratories of Germanischer Lloyd Prüflabor GmbH in Hamburg, Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Herne and Stuttgart/Esslingen, Element Materials Technology has further strengthened its presence in Europe. More importantly, however, the merger with the existing laboratories in Herne and Berlin has created one of Germany’s leading providers of materials testing and product qualification testing.

Element relied on a cross-location team from KPMG Law, led by Dr. Matthias Aldejohann and Philipp Glock, and its in-house team to advise on the acquisition. KPMG Law Dresden had already advised Element Materials Technology on the acquisition of today’s Element Materials Technology Berlin GmbH three years ago.

Element Materials Technology is a major provider of materials testing and product qualification testing services to the global aerospace, oil and gas, transportation and industrial sectors. Element has a team of more than 2,000 scientists, engineers and test technicians at 60 locations in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The main shareholder is the internationally active private equity and venture capital company Bridgepoint.
