Seven KPMG Law attorneys honored by Best Lawyers

This year’s Best Lawyers ranking, compiled in cooperation with Handelsblatt, lists no fewer than seven KPMG Law attorneys among the best lawyers in Germany. Three of them receive the award for the second time.

Dr. Stefan Middendorf repeats his distinction in employment law; he is responsible for employment law at KPMG Law as a partner and is based in Düsseldorf. His main areas of advice include issues of corporate co-determination, restructurings and labor law compliance. He has been included in the Best Lawyers Germany list for employment law since 2016.

Dr. Mario Mathias Ohle was again honored in IT law; he advises on IT procurement law in the public and private sectors at the Berlin office. Starting in 2015, he has specialized in particular in the defense sector for public clients and has been included in the Best Lawyers Germany list for IT law every year since 2010.

Dr. Ulrich Thölke has again been recognized in the area of corporate law and for the second year for M&A; he is a specialist lawyer for corporate law and head of the Berlin office. His main areas of expertise include corporate investigations, governance advice and corporate litigation. Best Lawyers Germany has included him in its list of the best German lawyers for corporate law since 2012.

KPMG Law is particularly pleased with the four newly awarded attorneys:

Maximilian Gröning was awarded for M&A; he is head of the Corporate/M&A practice at KPMG Law. His consulting focus is on assisting strategic investors as well as financial investors and shareholders in the acquisition and sale of companies. His practice also includes advising clients on joint ventures and on investments in start-ups (venture capital) as well as on internal restructuring.

Stefan Kimmel was awarded for Venture Capital Law; he is Partner for Legal Deal Advisory, M&A as well as Corporate and Commercial Law at the Berlin office. Kimmel’s practice areas include the formation and ongoing support of corporations, reorganizations, shareholder disputes and litigation, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and private equity and joint ventures.

Dr. Moritz Püstow was awarded for the area of Public Private Partnership; he is Head of Public Business Law at the Berlin office. Püstow advises clients on the structuring and implementation of complex projects in the public sector. His main areas of expertise include public procurement law and public commercial law.

Dr. Andreas Wieland was also recognized for M&A; he is a Partner in the Legal Financial Services Solution Line and Segment Head Banking. From his Frankfurt office, he provides comprehensive advice to banks and other financial institutions on issues of German and European financial supervisory law. Wieland has extensive experience in advising on M&A and outsourcing transactions involving financially regulated entities and the related regulatory aspects. The regulatory challenges surrounding the digital transformation of the financial sector are also a focal point.

The US publisher Best Lawyers is already publishing the 11th edition of the “Best Lawyers Germany” ranking. The list is based on the peer review system, is updated annually and published in Handelsblatt.
