KPMG Law strengthens with energy law team

Marc Goldberg, Dirk-Henning Meier and Maximilian Töllner will expand the energy law advisory services at KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH in Düsseldorf from January 2020.

Marc Goldberg will join KPMG Law as a partner on January 1, 2020, where he will lead the energy law practice. His colleagues will start as senior managers, and a further team expansion is planned in the near future.

All three lawyers come from PwC Legal, where they previously provided energy law and business advice to energy utilities, distribution companies, network operators and large energy-intensive consumers. They advise (municipal) energy suppliers and network operators of all sizes, as well as commercial and industrial companies from all sectors. They are experienced in providing legal advice on energy restructuring and support in the context of transactions.

One focus of her work is advising energy utilities on all aspects of procurement, trading and distribution as well as grid operators on issues of regulation, metering and security of supply. Large consumers will advise colleagues on compliance with energy regulatory obligations and support their clients in obtaining and maintaining privileges such as the special equalization scheme or for self-supply.

Against the backdrop of the advancing energy, heat and mobility transition and the accompanying regulatory changes, their expert opinions help as a basis for decision-making for new business models and investment decisions. At KPMG Law, Marc Goldberg and his team will develop the Germany-wide energy law advisory practice from the Düsseldorf office.

Dr. Moritz Püstow, Partner and Head of Public Commercial Law at KPMG Law, puts the addition in strategic terms: “Energy law has constantly gained in importance in recent years and is a major focus in the public sector. With three additional highly specialized colleagues, we are positioning ourselves very well in the competition for complex and challenging projects.”
