KPMG Law advises the University Hospitals of Halle and Magdeburg on entrustment agreements with Saxony-Anhalt

KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH advised the University Hospitals of Halle and Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt on entrustment agreements with the state amounting to €434 million.

From the entrustment agreements, the university hospitals will receive a total of 434 million euros from the state of Saxony-Anhalt, so that both will have the same financial balance after payment of the funds. They each commit to using the funds in ways that make them more resilient to pandemics and other public health challenges. Entrustment expresses that the agreements with the university hospitals and the resulting payments by the state have been examined under EU state aid law.

KPMG Law, with a team led by Frankfurt partner Dr. Carsten Jennert, represented the two university hospitals throughout the process, drafted the entrustment agreements and negotiated them with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Environment of Saxony-Anhalt….

The sum provided will enable a statewide training center for pandemic and disaster management to be established in Halle. In Magdeburg, comprehensive digitization measures are planned to secure supraregional medical care in rural areas, keywords being telemedicine and robotics.
