KPMG Law young professionals win third place in DAV speech contest

Young lawyer Cornelius Fischer from the internationally active KPMG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (KPMG Law) has won third place in this year’s speech contest of the German Bar Association (DAV). With his speech “Rechtsanwalt oder Lawyer – Gedanken eines Berufsanfängers” he was able to convince the jury.

“I am particularly proud of the fact that I was the only newcomer to the profession among the candidates to make it to the final round and even win a place among the top three,” Fischer comments on his success. The junior lawyer joined KPMG Law at the beginning of 2013 and was admitted to the bar in February 2013.

“We warmly congratulate Cornelius Fischer on this personal success. After five years of building up our Employment Law & Mediation Practice Group at KPMG Law, we are delighted to be reaping the rewards of our consistent promotion of young talent. We are also perceived as a very attractive employer by the best junior lawyers,” sums up Dr. Alexander Insam, Partner at KPMG Law.

Stefan Middendorf, Partner at KPMG Law and Head of the Employment Law & Mediation Practice Group, adds: “With our continuing education curriculum Growing @ KPMG Law, we have designed a tailored development program that supports both the professional and personal development of our lawyers.”

The DAV speech contest took place for the 14th time in 2013. It offers lawyers the opportunity to present themselves in public and to try out the form of “speech”. Candidates had to submit a concept by May 2, 2013. 12 participants were selected, of which 5 made it to the final round. Eminent representatives from the fields of law, legal practice and politics served as jurors.
