Biography

Leonie Schönhagen joined KPMG Law in 2021 as a manager and attorney at the Frankfurt office. The focus of her advice is on data protection, IT and technology law.

She advises on extensive compliance projects, in the context of transactions and, in particular, on ongoing legal issues relating to IT, data protection, e-commerce and technology law in each case. Ongoing advice includes, for example, the drafting and negotiation of complex IT and data protection contracts as well as an efficient and pragmatic approach to information and deletion claims. A particular focus of her work is in the area of international data transfer including SCCs, Transfer Risk Assessments and Binding Corporate Rules, which she has been able to expand in numerous extensive global uplift projects. In addition, she gained valuable relevant experience during a 6-month secondment with the “Head of Data Protection (EMEA)” of a leading international financial services provider as well as in the course of her work at the State Data Protection Authority (HBDI).
