The article by Lars Christian Mahler and Marc Goldberg deals with the challenges associated with achieving the national and European climate targets by 2030/2050. It is emphasized that far-reaching changes are necessary in all economic sectors and areas of life in order to achieve these goals. The war in Ukraine is cited as an additional challenge for the implementation of these changes. Finally, it is pointed out that it is important to reconcile the three objectives of the energy market – affordability, sustainability and security of supply – in order to facilitate the implementation of change.
