Airgreets wins prize at the International Startup Summit

Airgreets GmbH from Munich was able to prevail against 17 other startups at the International Startup Summit. Hosted by KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH and the German American Chamber of Commerce New York, the event gathered some 150 participants from across the startup ecosystem.

Airgreets specializes in serviced home sharing and assists apartment owners who want to rent out their home on a temporary basis through Airbnb. The service ranges from the preparation of the offer to the actual rental, cleaning of the apartment and billing. Airgreets thus makes home sharing available to apartment owners who cannot or do not want to bear the organization of the rental themselves.

The first prize is a startup trip to New York as part of the “Startup & Entrepreneur” program(www.stepusa.io) of the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC). The program takes place quarterly and has already helped well over 200 German startups in New York, Boston and Silicon Valley enter the U.S. market since its launch in 2014.

The four-member jury gathered practitioners of startup funding and financing:

  • Alexandra Gorman, senior vice president of SAP.io Fund
  • Jan Wagner, Responsible for M&A Strategy at MAHLE International
  • Sören Schuster, Managing Director of startup financier CFH Management
  • Roland Kirchhoff, Executive Board of Business Angels Netzwerk Deutschland

The 18 participating startups had been selected in advance by KPMG Law (Dr. Christian Hensel) and GACC (Andrea Diewald) from a large number of applications. Participants at the event came from all sectors of the startup ecosystem, namely startups, venture capital funds, business angels, incubators, accelerators, as well as mid-sized and large companies. The keynote speech was given by Henning Fehrmann, CEO of Fehrmann Metallverarbeitung, as well as Ynicrn GmbH, which helps startups position themselves attractively for investors. The event took place at the offices of KPMG Law in The Squaire in Frankfurt.
