KPMG Law strengthens compliance team

The internationally active KPMG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (KPMG Law) is further expanding its Compliance & Investigations team: On June 1, 2013, compliance expert and criminal defense lawyer Dr. Simon-Alexander Zeidler joined KPMG Law. Based in Düsseldorf, he will expand the Compliance & Investigations division in advising on “court-proof organizational structures”. Zeidler joins from Peters Rechtsanwälte, prior to which he worked at HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt and Noerr.

“I am impressed by the opportunities KPMG Law offers: Dynamic growth with a first-class client structure and outstanding colleagues,” says Zeidler, explaining his move and adding, “Especially the cross-location cooperation works perfectly after my first impression.” The 40-year-old joins KPMG Law as a Senior Manager, the equivalent of a Salary Partner position at other law firms. “I look forward to contributing my diverse experience to the further expansion of the Compliance & Investigations Practice Group. Here, my several years of expertise in criminal defense in white-collar criminal proceedings will also help me.”

With 20 professionals, Compliance & Investigations is one of the five largest teams at KPMG Law. Konstantin von Busekist, Partner and Head of the Compliance & Investigations Practice Group: “At KPMG Law, we place a special focus on the further development of our advice on court-compliant organizational structures. This advice goes beyond the classic understanding of compliance: we recently won several significant mandates to implement compliance-compliant structures in tax departments.”

In addition to court-proof organizational structures & compliance, the range of services offered by Practice Group Compliance & Investigations includes advice on topics such as anti-corruption, data protection, foreign trade law. But it also includes product safety, product liability and internal investigations. In the area of criminal tax law, the Practice Group works closely with the Tax Conflicts Practice Group headed by Dr. Heiko Hoffmann.

Compliance is one of the key topics for KPMG Law. “With Simon Zeidler, we are specifically expanding our Compliance & Investigations Practice Group in several ways by extending our expertise in white-collar crime,” summarizes Dr. Manfred Kessler, Managing Director of KPMG Law.
