KPMG Law strengthens its Western Region: Peter Lamers new Partner and Head of Essen office

The internationally active KPMG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (KPMG Law) strengthens the Essen location and thus the Ruhr region. Peter Lamers, who specializes in commercial and corporate law as well as criminal tax law, will join KPMG Law on August 1, 2014.

The 42-year-old lawyer joins the firm as a partner and takes over the management of the Essen office. Lamers will expand the location with the existing team in terms of expertise and personnel and will further strengthen the market presence in the Ruhr region from there. The entire West Region now comprises a team of 47 lawyers, 9 of whom are partners at KPMG Law.

Lamers began his career at Sommer & Rossner, a law firm specializing in commercial law with offices in Düsseldorf and Munich, whose Düsseldorf office he headed from 2004. In 2006, Lamers joined the Ecovis Group, for which, as a member of the management board, he drove the development and expansion of legal services and was responsible for business in North Rhine-Westphalia. He was appointed partner in 2010 and was most recently a member of the overall coordinating advisory board of the Ecovis Group.

Commenting on his reasons for joining KMPG Law, Lamers said, “KPMG Law’s strong focus on medium-sized companies in Essen and the location’s strong business in the retail and energy sectors particularly fit my personal consulting focus.” He described his plans as follows: “Our objective in Essen is, on the one hand, to further expand KPMG Law’s position in the traditional legal advice market in the region and, on the other hand, to leverage the strengths of holistic advice in conjunction with KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft.”

“With Peter Lamers, we have succeeded in attracting a competent lawyer who, with his consulting experience in medium-sized businesses, will strengthen and further expand our Essen location,” explained Dr. Manfred Kessler, Managing Director of KPMG Law, adding, “Our goal is to consolidate KPMG Law in the Ruhr region and to promote our market presence through integrated consulting approaches.”
