KPMG Law brings in reinforcements for TMT practice

KPMG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (KPMG Law) has gained reinforcement for the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) Practice Group with Dr. Jan Christian Seevogel. The 39-year-old was an associate at Lausen until 2015 and joined the Munich office as a senior manager in February. This is equivalent to a salary partner in other firms.

Dr. Tobias Fuchs, Head of the TMT Practice Group, is pleased about the latest addition: “The need for advice on intellectual property and media and technology law has grown enormously and will become increasingly important for corporate decision-makers in the future. We have made all the necessary strategic and personnel decisions to meet this demand. With the new addition, the firm has laid the foundation for further organic growth. Beyond that, however, we will continue to keep our eyes open for interesting lateral hires.”

Seevogel specializes in IP and IT law, licensing law, and Internet and social media law. He is a specialist lawyer for copyright and media law and has many years of experience in providing strategic and legal advice to companies from all industries on the development and expansion of new business models relating to new technologies and new media. In addition, he accompanies social media strategies from a legal perspective and represents companies in cases of damage to their reputation on the Internet.

“The interdisciplinary cooperation with KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, the international network and the opportunity to use and help develop state-of-the-art technologies for our clients excite me. These factors give KPMG Law a considerable competitive edge, especially in my areas of expertise,” explains Seevogel. “Last but not least, the further dynamic expansion of the practice group in Munich and the associated entrepreneurial challenge are extremely appealing to me.”

Seevogel also previously worked in his own law firm and, in addition to practicing law, founded Internet startups in the areas of e-commerce and social media. He is the author of the book “Facebook und Recht” (O’Reilly Verlag).
