Growth Legal M&A and Corporate at the Nuremberg and Stuttgart locations

Significant strengthening of the Legal M&A and Corporate departments at the Nuremberg and Stuttgart locations

As of October 1, 2017, Dr. Christian Hensel, Dr. Nils Peter Brügmann and Dr. Cordula Giesecke join the Nuremberg office of KPMG Law. The firm is thus further expanding its M&A and corporate capacities in Nuremberg and at the same time strengthening its presence in the Stuttgart area.

The three new hires come from PwC Legal’s Stuttgart office and will start at KPMG Law in Nuremberg on October 1, 2017, where they will be part of the team led by M&A and Corporate partner Dr. Daniel Kaut. However, they will continue to be active in the Stuttgart market and will be on site there on a regular basis.

Dr. Christian Hensel, who started his career in Freshfields’ Munich office, has advised national and international companies and groups as well as private equity firms on M&A transactions and corporate law issues at PwC Legal. Hensel has particular industry expertise in the automotive and energy sectors. Before joining PwC Legal, he worked in the Nuremberg office of Beiten Burkhardt until the end of 2014. At KPMG Law, Hensel will join as a senior manager, which is equivalent to salary partner status at other law firms.

Dr. Nils Peter Brügmann, also originally from Beiten Burkhardt, had been working for PwC Legal in Stuttgart since the end of 2014. In addition to advising on M&A transactions, his focus is on advising companies on commercial and corporate law, inter alia in the automotive sector, where he particularly advises the supplier side. At KPMG Law, Brügmann starts as a manager.

Dr. Cordula Giesecke started her career at PwC Legal in 2015 in the Hensel and Brügmann team and will join KPMG Law as a senior associate focusing on corporate/M&A and commercial law.

The Corporate/M&A team at KPMG Law in Nuremberg grows to seven professionals with the additions. In addition to Kaut, it currently consists of senior managers Dr. Dirk Lange (commercial law, legal issues relating to operations, litigation) and Christina Klinger (M&A, venture capital, private equity) as well as an associate, Denise Kühn-Rittirsch.

Kaut, who is responsible for Legal M&A and Corporate at KPMG Law in Nuremberg, is pleased about the additions: “The reinforcement by three top-class heads is an important step for the further expansion of our position as a leading address for the legal support of M&A, venture capital and private equity transactions as well as for commercial and corporate law advice. Together with Christian Hensel, Nils Peter Brügmann and Cordula Giesecke, we will be able to provide our clients with the excellent legal advice that they associate with the KPMG Law brand and that they know and expect from us, with an even greater breadth of personnel.”

Dr. Alexander Insam, Partner at the Frankfurt office and CHRO, also comments positively on the new set-up: “I am pleased that we at KPMG Law, with our targeted orientation as one of the leading MDP law firms, are not only inspiring and attracting more and more talented young professionals, but also highly qualified experienced colleagues. Teamwork is key to our success and we look forward to working with our new colleagues.”
