KPMG Law: New additions in Financial Services, Banking and Real Estate

KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH is further expanding its Legal Financial Services Solution Line and has brought Matthias Lüger, an experienced practitioner, to its Düsseldorf office. At the Munich office, Legal Financial Services is joined by Michael Neher, who moves from Gleiss Lutz to KPMG Law in the area of construction and real estate law.

Matthias Lüger started at KPMG Law on April 1, 2022 as a partner in the Legal Financial Services Solution Line, which is led by Miriam Bouazza. He joined Santander in 2013 as Head of Department and in-house counsel Regulatory Compliance, Data Protection & Customer Taxes. Among other things, he was responsible for setting up the MaRisk compliance function and various other monitoring systems, e.g. to prevent corruption and antitrust incidents and to ensure compliance with FATCA and QI requirements. Since 2016, Lüger has also been the data protection officer at Santander Consumer Bank and Santander Consumer Leasing and, among other things, was in charge of implementing the GDPR and setting up data protection management systems at the bank.

At KPMG Law, Lüger will be responsible for data protection law, compliance and money laundering for financial services clients and, in addition to providing individual advice, will also focus on the development of standard products and technical solutions.

Michael Neher will strengthen the construction and real estate law team at the Munich office as Senior Manager from April 1, 2022. Neher joins from Gleiss Lutz, where he worked in the Corporate/Real Estate practice since 2017, focusing on real estate transactions as well as commercial real estate development and leasing. At KPMG Law, he will strengthen legal advice on transactions involving real estate and real estate companies in the Southern Region and will primarily count institutional investors and family offices among his clients.
