Our sustainability program: Our Impact Plan

ESThere is a lot to do

We at KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (hereinafter referred to as KPMG Law) want to help shape the transition to a sustainable economy and society. For us as an internationally oriented, multidisciplinary law firm that combines legal, economic and technological expertise in its advisory approach, sustainability has two closely interlinked dimensions:

On the one hand, we aim to drive forward our own transformation into a more sustainable company. On the other hand, as a leading legal advisory firm, we make an important contribution to creating trust in society and making the economy more sustainable with our range of advisory services. KPMG Law sees itself as a modern law firm of the 21st century and combines legal and technological expertise in a multidisciplinary consulting approach. Our aim is to support our clients in comprehensively understanding complex interrelationships and making the right, legally sound decisions – economically, technologically and ecologically.

We see ourselves as an integral part of society and therefore take responsibility for its challenges. With this in mind, we have analyzed the impact of our law firm on the economy, the environment and people accordingly and have set ourselves the goal of consistently advancing our sustainability approach in the four fields of action of our sustainability program Our Impact Plan with the fields of action Governance, People, Planet and Prosperity.

As a legally independent commercial law firm, we, KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (hereinafter referred to as KPMG Law), are associated and closely linked with KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft (hereinafter referred to as KPMG AG). The cooperation with KPMG AG gives us the opportunity to offer our clients comprehensive, holistic and, if required, international support together with the consultants and auditors of KPMG AG and its Audit, Tax, Deal Advisory, Consulting, Financial Services and Performance & Strategy divisions. Furthermore, the association also promotes a uniform quality of service and compliance with agreed values. Even though KPMG Law and KPMG AG are each independent legal entities within the global KPMG organization, KPMG Law pursues the same goals in the area of sustainability and essentially relies on the same measures as KPMG AG to achieve these goals.

Planet

As a service company, our business activities have an impact on both people and the environment. We are therefore committed to using natural resources responsibly. To reduce our environmental impact, KPMG International has set specific environmental protection targets for the global KPMG organization, to which KPMG Law subscribes. We are committed to halving ourcarbon footprint by 2030 and are implementing measures in four areas of action through our Environmental Program 2030 .

Against this background, our ISO 14001-certified environmental management system enables us to continuously scrutinize and improve KPMG Law’s business processes with regard to their environmental impact. The management system applies to all KPMG Law locations. The management system covers all environmental impacts that are caused by the provision of services in the Legal Public Sector, Legal Financial Services, Legal Corporate Services, Legal Business Services and Legal Regulatory & Compliance Services solution lines and which KPMG Law can directly influence or control.

We also want to promote the environmental awareness of our employees and thus bring about a change in their thinking and behavior with regard to ecological sustainability. With our environmental measures, we show our employees ways to use energy and resources more consciously: Because each and every one of us can make an individual contribution to continuously improving our environmental performance. In our environmental policy we define principles for environmentally friendly action.
