Biography

Simon Straßburger holds a degree in business administration and completed his studies at the University of Bayreuth and the HHL Graduate School of Management. He gained additional experience abroad at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA, and at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) in India. Since 2008, his focus has been on advising legal and compliance departments. His professional career includes international positions in consulting and industry, e.g. as head of department for organizational development and process management. Since 2019, Simon Straßburger has been instrumental in building the Legal Operations & Technology Services team at KPMG Law in Germany and has played a key role in its successful growth in recent years.

Consulting focus

Simon Straßburger is a recognized expert in legal operations and legal tech with over 16 years of experience. He has advised legal departments worldwide in various industries, in particular in the automotive, insurance, chemical, pharmaceutical, consumer goods and financial services sectors. His clients include global blue chips and DAX40 companies as well as renowned medium-sized companies. His expertise is the design and management of comprehensive transformation programs in in-house legal departments. These programs range from benchmarking and maturity analysis to the optimization of operating models, the implementation of legal tech solutions and the provision of managed services. He specializes in process optimization in legal departments, the implementation of legal tech tools and the use of dashboards and data analytics to improve performance. Outstanding examples of his work include the transformation of legal functions of leading automotive OEMs. This included the establishment of internal legal operations units, the analysis of existing processes, the optimization of the operating model and the introduction of innovative legal tech solutions for a future-proof legal department. Simon Straßburger is also an expert in Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) at KPMG Law in Germany. His projects include the harmonization of contract review processes and tools, as well as the design and implementation support of company-wide contract management processes. Simon Straßburger regularly speaks at leading legal and technology conferences such as Legal Revolution Expo or Legal Innovation, and publishes articles in renowned publications such as Handelsblatt and “der Unternehmensjurist”.
