Biography

Amelie Busmann is a lawyer and manager at KPMG Law in the Legal Financial Services department. She advises national and international banks, financial service providers and other regulated institutions comprehensively on banking and capital markets law issues as well as securities regulatory law.

Ms. Busmann supports her clients in implementing complex legal and regulatory requirements in accordance with national and European regulations, in particular the German Banking Act (KWG) and the German Securities Trading Act (WpHG), and assists them in communicating with supervisory authorities. Her advice combines comprehensive expertise in civil and regulatory law with a keen understanding of regulatory processes and individual organizational structures.

A particular focus of her work is the prevention of money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism. She advises on the design and further development of KYC processes and internal security measures as well as on the preparation and updating of individual risk analyses for banks. She also supports implementation projects in connection with the EU AML package and assists with the adaptation of internal guidelines and processes to the requirements of the EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR).

She also advises on compliance and governance. She supports the implementation and optimization of compliance structures and internal control systems, carries out audit activities and accompanies regulatory transformation projects for banks, financial institutions, FinTechs and companies from related industries.
