KPMG Law expands financial services capabilities

With Marc Pussar and Dr. Philipp Vorbeck, two senior managers have strengthened the Financial Services team of KPMG Law in Frankfurt am Main since January. The team around partner Dr. Markus Lange comprises a total of 40 professionals.

Dr. Philipp Vorbeck joins from Latham & Watkins, where he worked as a solicitor in London and as a lawyer in Frankfurt since 2011. His practice focuses on acquisition finance for investment banks and private equity firms. During this time, Vorbeck worked as legal counsel for Deutsche Bank in London as part of a secondment. Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Vorbeck worked at Norton Rose Fulbright, both in London and Frankfurt. Vorbeck will use his expertise to support the financing team led by Miriam Bouazza, partner at KPMG Law.

Marc Pussar specializes in banking supervisory law and advises, among other things, on innovative business models (keyword Fintech), e-money as well as governance and data protection issues. Pussar comes from SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte. He had been working there since 2009, most recently as Counsel and as head of the firm’s internal Fintech working group. Since September 2017, Pussar has also headed the Regulatory Commission of the German Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management (DVFA), for which he has already been a speaker since 2016.

Dr. Markus Lange, Partner at KPMG Law and Head of the Financial Services Solution Line, comments: “The financial sector is facing major challenges, for example due to far-reaching new regulatory requirements and distortions resulting from Brexit. With Marc Pussar and Dr. Philipp Vorbeck, we have added two experienced practitioners to our team and are ideally positioned to provide our clients with the first-class advice they expect in this challenging environment.”

Miriam Bouazza adds: “I am very pleased that we have been able to strengthen our team with Dr. Vorbeck and Mr. Pussar. With them, we are gaining experienced minds for both the topic of legal financing advice and bank regulation. This means that Financial Services at KPMG Law is strongly staffed for the future.”
